Общее название пособий, льгот, привилегий и программ помощи для демобилизованных военнослужащих. Контроль за осуществлением программ федерального уровня возложен в основном на Министерство по делам ветеранов [ Department of Veterans Affairs], в том числе на его Управление по делам ветеранских пособий и льгот [Veterans Benefits Administration]. Ветераны получают помощь со стороны государства в таких вопросах, как поиск работы и обучение новой специальности, получение высшего образования. Государство предоставляет им помощь при получении ссуд, в том числе ипотечных [ mortgage], выступая в качестве гаранта возврата средств банку. Ветераны имеют право на бесплатную медицинскую и стоматологическую помощь, а также стационарное лечение в госпиталях министерства [ VA hospital] и при необходимости оплачиваемое пребывание в частных больницах.
